About Grandcrufarms Pty Ltd

Grandcrufarms Pty Ltd (Sustainable Organic Farming Techniques) was established in 2012 as a Marketing and Processing company for parent company Mara Seeds Pty Ltd.

With an extensive range of organic products, Managing Director Stuart Larsson's vision is to offer farmers "carbon smart" innovations that deliver superior animal and soil health productivity.

Grandcrufarms is located in United Kingdom.

Looking forward at a sustainable future

Mara Seeds is a family owned business that was established in 1967. In the mid 1990's management identified the diminishing returns on artificial fertiliser, chemical systems and increased costs, both financially and health related.

In 1996 Mara Seeds changed its approach to an organic farming system to allow for the development of niche specialised products and also to cater for the organic culinary soybean and beef markets in Australia.

Mara Seeds is involved in the production and processing of a range of organic products from oilseeds to grass seeds which are value added for specific markets. Mara Seeds was a pioneer soybean grower in northern NSW, being the second farming operation to ever grow soybean on the Far North Coast.

The inception of Grandcrufarms Pty Ltd

In 2012 Managing Director Stuart Larsson decided to evolve the Mara Seeds brand to reflect his vision of "carbon smart" farming.

Grandcrufarms (Sustainable Organic Farming Techniques) was established, and using a unique blend of biochar developed a range of organic fertilisers, livestock feeds and additives that support high yield productivity gains while offering the best possible health benefits for plants and livestock.

Grandcrufarms continues to build and develop organic products for domestic and export markets with the view of promoting the Australian Organic Industry.

HISTORY

History
Grandcru Farms is a family-owned wine and whiskey house with a heritage of craftsmanship and innovation that began in 1967.

Rooted in the rich soils of northern New South Wales, Australia, and matured in the rugged highlands of Scotland, Grandcru Farms produces, matures, and markets a premium collection of organic wines and traditionally crafted whiskies. Each bottle reflects the character of two distinct terroirs—Australia’s sun-kissed vineyards and Scotland’s ancient distilling valleys.

Originally starting as a boutique vineyard 50km west of Casino, NSW, Grandcru was among the early pioneers of organic viticulture in the region. A small, quality-driven wine facility was built to process the estate’s organic harvests. The business later expanded its legacy to Scotland, where a highland distillery was established to produce handcrafted single malt and blended whiskies, using locally sourced organic barley and spring water.

Organic Philosophy

In the mid-1990s, the founders recognized the environmental and health impacts of conventional farming and made a decisive move to fully organic production—long before it became a global trend. This shift aligned with a growing demand for natural, clean-label beverages and gave rise to Grandcru’s philosophy: elegance, integrity, and sustainability in every pour.

Certified by the Biological Farmers Association (BFA) in Australia and meeting EU organic standards in Scotland, Grandcru Farms proudly produces wines and whiskies that are free from synthetic pesticides, additives, and artificial fertilizers.

Soil Health & Sustainability
In 1997, Grandcru established an on-site’composting and microbial brewing facility, producing organic compost and biological teas used across its vineyards and barley fields. This regenerative approach has enhanced both soil vitality and flavor expression, producing richer grapes and more characterful grain.

Global Reach, Local Craft

From velvety organic Shiraz and Chardonnay in Australia to oak-aged Highland whiskies in Scotland, Grandcru Farms blends old-world tradition with new-world sustainability. Select whiskies are even matured in repurposed Grandcru wine barrels, creating a truly unique flavor profile that bridges continents.

With a growing presence across Europe, Asia, and North America, Grandcru Farms is committed to advancing the organic movement while elevating the global palate with every bottle.
